Most of us are rookies when it comes to talking about death—the thing we ALL have in common.

Somewhere along the line we’ve forgotten how much we gain by doing so in community with others willing to “practice” with us.

As a society we’ve excelled at avoiding discussing death, dying and end-of-life until it’s often too late for meaningful conversations and usually when we’re feeling our worst.

The Pre-Dead Social Club is working to change that trajectory. We create opportunities for you to lean in to, get curious and discuss the things that matter most as we all face our eventual end-of-life. We meet you where you’re at. We hope one or some of the events below pique your interest and you’ll join us in the near future.

Welcome to the Die-A-Logue!

In addition to the event listed below, the following events will hit the calendar!

  • Author Virtual Meet-n-Greet + Q&A

  • We Wish We Knew That Roundtables

  • “Practically Dying” An Interactive Series where we get organized AND explore aspects of our inner death doula - you didn’t know you had!

Wing-making Workshop

A Hands-on Creative Ritual for Honoring, Remembering and Letting Go

Not everyone wants to talk about death. Instead, sometimes we need to use our hands and create something that captures memories and feelings. The wings on the wooden figure in the photo carry with them sixty unique “feathers” that represent different times, places, people and moments that serve as a touchstone to honor someone (or a pet) who has died or is dying. If a picture is worth a thousand words, multiply that by sixty!

Join us for this small-group, reflective workshop (held in the main Gallery at 3S Artspace) and led by Bess Welden (of the Death Wings Project) and Laura Cleminson (of the Pre-Dead Social Club). It’s a creative opportunity to honor a death of any kind through a simple art project, using paper and fabric to create a set of mini-wings that promise to spark memories to share, coax a smile and even start conversations that might not otherwise occur.

"We Wish We Knew That!" Roundtable Discussion

PURCHASE TICKETS HERE Tickets are $10 + $2.51 Eventbrite Fee

The Pre-Dead Social Club will host "We Wish We Knew That!" - Insights and Ideas for Saying What Matters, When it Matters Most for Better Care. Attendees will be part of a thought-provoking roundtable discussion between healthcare professionals and caregivers about the roles we all play when it comes to our health and receiving the care we want, particularly when faced with a life limiting or terminal diagnosis.

During this event, real-life stories and personal insights revealed by both caregivers and members of the healthcare community will illuminate the things they wish they had known during healthcare conversations. They will also share suggestions to inspire and encourage each of us to take an active role in our own care coordination and explore strategies for having meaningful and clear discussions about our health and what is important to us.
