The Pre-Dead Social Club will host "We Wish We Knew That!" Insights and Ideas for Saying What Matters, When it Matters Most for Whole Person Care.
Attendees will be part of a thought-provoking roundtable discussion between healthcare professionals and caregivers about the roles we all play when it comes to our health and receiving the care we want particularly when faced with a life limiting or terminal diagnosis.

During this event, real-life stories and personal insights revealed by both caregivers and members of the healthcare community will illuminate the things they wish they had known during healthcare conversations. They will also share suggestions to inspire and encourage each of us to take an active role in our own care coordination and explore strategies for having meaningful and clear discussions about our health and what is important to us.
The roundtable guests include Shannon Calabro, Licensed Medical Social Worker; Michele Gravelle, Difficult Conversation Consultant & "Reluctant Caregiver"; Dr. Sarah MacDuffie, Palliative Care Physician; and Patricia O'Connor, Hospice/Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner & Author of "Navigating Life's Final Journey: Conversations, Choices, Resource." The group will be facilitated by Laura Cleminson, Pre-Dead Social Club Founder, Death Doula & TedxPortsmouth 2024 speaker.
Who should attend? The “WE” in our title invites anyone that would be part of these types of care conversations (now or in the future) whether you are the patient, family member, friend, caregiver, member of the support team near or far including the medical care support team and beyond. By coming together outside of the walls of a medical facility is to share stories, insights and ideas of how these conversations can be better for all involved. The more we discuss these scenarios BEFORE they happen, the better prepared we’ll all be. It’s a great opportunity for medical and social work students, hospice volunteers and anyone working in hospice to join as well. Let’s all lean into these conversations together.
